Philippine Society of Digestive Endoscopy Signs the Contract for the NEeD Project

PSDE NEeD Project

Contract signing between the officers of the Philippine Society of Digestive Endoscopy and BaseCamp Technologies, Inc.(from L-R: Dr. Felix Domingo Jr., President, Mr. Luis G. Quiogue, Vice-President of BaseCamp , Dr. Jonathan Sandejas, Vice-President, and Dr Roberto Magsino , Treasurer) was held last October 19, 2011 at the Fairways Tower, Global City.

NEeD stands for the National Endoscopic electronic Database.

The NEeD Project aims to generate a national registry of endoscopic clinical data. This data will be utilized by the general membership to produce significant research in the realm of digestive disease. Although the sole authorship will be honored to the principal investigators, NEeD project will be recognized as the flagship of the Philippine Society of Digestive Endoscopy.

The Philippine Society of Digestive Endoscopy has recognized the need for providing national endoscopic data primarily to improve the national health provision in terms of digestive diseases. It has recognized the need of epidemiologic information that will greatly aid us in formulating clinical guidelines in the management of patients. Furthermore, through this endeavor we can level up to the international medical community in being able to share basic information regarding digestive conditions seen in our own region.

Congratulations to Dr. Ronald Vallar as New Life Fellow Awardee!

New Life Fellow Awardee 2011

In the recently held Philippine Digestive Health Week, the Philippine Society of Digestive Endoscopy recognized its new Life Fellow Awardees for the year 2010-2011. Dr. Ronald A. Vallar, who recently served as Immediate Past President (2009-2010) of the Society, shared the limelight with Dr. Antonio C. Comia who served the Philippine Specialty Board of Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy for three years. The Life Fellow Award is given annually to those members who served the Society unselfishly and with utmost dedication. May they continually serve as a model for our new aspiring members. Congratulations!
