Endoscopy Workshop (2010)

Dear Colleagues:

Kaleidoscope - comes from the Greek word kalos (beauty), eidos (shape) and skopeo (to look at) which translates to “observer of beautiful forms”. Coined by its inventor Sir David Brewster (1816) it was intended as a scientific tool for light polarization experiments. Since then, it has been popularized as toys of fascination for children, young and old.

Annually, the Philippine Society of Digestive Endoscopy (PSDE) conducts a Live Endoscopy Workshop and the PSDE has chosen this word to embody this year’s theme. For truly, endoscopy in the new millennium has gone out from the drab images of its forefathers and is evolving into complex, polychromatic, multi-dimensional vistas we enjoy today. The Organizing committee has decided to focus on enhanced imaging - hoping that at the end of the session, we will be adept in its use. We would also like to break from the mold and engage other fields of medicine that uses endoscopy indirectly albeit importantly such as nutritional management. We also include “Tricks and Treat” –sessions that aim to provide valuable tips in the performance of simple procedures such as colonoscopy and PEG insertion up to more complex ones like EMR and ERCP.

The Workshop is slated on August 18 and 19, 2010. Again, several national and international endoscopists and speakers will be invited to perform procedures and discuss issues of their expertise to help participants learn innovations and new techniques in endoscopy. This year, the live workshop will be hosted by the Makati Medical Center - one of the premiere medical institutions in the country strategically located in the prime metropolitan center of the region.

May we invite you to this very special event. We will be sending you updates as the preparation unfolds. We will also be sending announcements via flyers and through this website regularly.

Come. Learn with us this year. Enjoy the Filipino hospitality. Live the experience that is truly uniquely the Philippines!
